This blog from Heather Mansfield is quite new with only 10 or so posts, but it is really good. Make sure you also follow her on twitter – @nonprofitorgs. The author was named a Fundraising Star of the Year in 2009 by Fundraising Success Magazine. So that should tell you something about the quality of her blog.

Have you started using Facebook to promote your cause, recruit supporters, or just making your organization known to the world? If not, you should. As of last count, Facebook has over 250 millions users. And chances are that the people you are trying to reach are already on Facebook. So why wait? It does not cost you a dime, just a lot of sweat.

Here are a few tips from Net Wits Think Tank

a. Create a Page, not a Group or Cause
b. Participate and be a Community
c. Get folks to engage with you in more than one way
d. Stats, stats, stats

And, of course, non of these tips would matter much unless you get started.

Facebook “Fan Box” widget

Created a Facebook Page for your nonprofit? If not, stop reading this post, go to Facebook and create one now. If yes, hear this, Facebook has just released a “fan box” widget that you can put in your website. “Users can view the most recent posts from the Page, see a list of other fans (including their friends), and, most importantly, become a fan without leaving the site,” Facebook Product Manager Mark Kinsey says.

This can be done easily by adding a Javascript code snippet in your site, very much like embedding a YouTube video. If your site administrator tells you that it will take 3 days to do, fire him or her. Details can be found here. An example here.
